Friederike Herold

Born in Pirna, Germany, in 2005. Since 2023, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair with Ivan Monighetti. She has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

She began to play cello at the age of 8. She studied in Dresden in the children's class at the Carl Maria von Weber Music University with professor Gunda Altmann, and, since 2016, she attended the Sächsisches Landesgymnasium für Musik with professors Eemil Rovner (Dresden) and Ivan Monighetti (Basel). She has also attended masterclasses by Sol Gabetta, Jens-Peter Maintz, Danjulo Ishizaka, Natalie Clein, Marie-Elisabeth Hecker, Jan Vogelr, Tanja Tetzlaff, and Pablo Ferrández.

She has been awarded the first position in international competitions in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, and Hungary, and several editions of the Jugend Musiziert. She has performed as a soloist with the Young Symphony Orchestra Dresden and the Zagreber Solisten and has been part of the YES Chamber Orchestra and the Barocco Semper Giovane. Additionally, she has participated in festivals, like “Hope@Home” (invited by Daniel Hope), Solsberg Festival (Switzerland), Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and Dresden Music Festival.

Holding a scholarship by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and being the winner of the “Deutsche Musikinstrumentenfond”, since 2020 she plays a cello by Joseph Antonius Rocca, Turin 1839. She receives a grant by the Jürgen and Monika Blankenburg Foundation. Likewise, since 2018, she is granted a scholarship by the Liechtenstein International Music Academy and takes part of the Academy’s activities and the Intensive Music Weeks.

As a student of the School, she has performed with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Péter Csaba, and she is currently part of the Prosegur Albéniz Quartet and the Schumann Trio.
